Our skin is the first thing we notice about each other. But it’s also our body’s first line of defense.

Tennessee River Dermatology offers professional skin care from certified specialists, and we’ve cut down our wait times to provide an efficient patient experience, whether you need a regular check-up or an advanced procedure. If you’re a first-timer at Tennessee River Dermatology, or you just want to know more about what we do, here’s everything you need to know:

Our History

After earning his M.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine and completing his residency training at UAB’s Department of Dermatology, Dr. Michael Webb founded Tennessee River Dermatology alongside Dr. Bruce Rye in 1997. Dr. Joseph W. Hanson, Sr. joined the Tennessee River Dermatology staff in 2004, followed by Dr. Brian Thomas in 2013.

For nearly two decades, Tennessee River Dermatology has been serving the people of North Alabama and beyond, providing the highest quality skin care and the most efficient patient experience possible.

Our Mission

“I favor an honest, well-informed and active approach to provide the patient with the best possible care. My patients’ confidence is my greatest reward.” — Dr. J. Michael Webb, M.D.

At Tennessee River Dermatology, board certified dermatologists and staff members are committed to offering the highest quality skin care for a wide range of procedures, all with the courtesy and helpfulness that you deserve. Our team is dedicated to ensuring that our medical technology is state-of-the-art, our facilities meet and exceed safety regulations, and our services are as efficient and timely as possible.

Certifications

Certifications are not just an added bonus at Tennessee River Dermatology—they’re a necessary step in our commitment to providing the highest quality of modern skin care. Our specialists have received numerous individual certifications, and our onsite pathology lab is accredited by the College of American Pathologists’ Laboratory Accreditation Program.

What does it mean to be Board Certified?

We all know that it’s a big plus whenever doctors are “board certified.” But what does it mean to be certified? Find out more about the voluntary, extensive certification process.

The physicians of Tennessee River Dermatology participate in Maintenance of Certification.

Certification Matters. And ultimately, the measure of physician specialists is not merely that they have been certified, but how well they keep current in their specialty. That’s why in 2000, the 24 Member Boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties agreed to evolve their re-certification programs to one of continuous professional development – ABMS Maintenance of Certification (ABMS MOC). ABMS MOC assures that the physician is committed to lifelong learning and competency in a specialty and/or subspecialty by requiring ongoing measurement of six core competencies.”  Learn more about voluntary maintenance of certification.
